Why VeryDarkMan Is Trending: Pastor Calls Him Antichrist, Claims His Videos Make People Skip Church

A pastor at Evidence of the Gospel Church, Benin City (Isior, Ikpakpa, Dodo Street, Benin) is trending after telling his church to “go and block VeryDarkMan on Facebook, unfollow that antichrist.”

In the live broadcast on October 21, he said many people are now staying at home and finding it difficult to come to church because of what VDM said online.

Reactions on X and Facebook are heavily mocking the pastor — “business don cast,” “tithe don reduce,” “never will I unfollow VDM.”

A pastor in Benin City has sparked reactions online after telling his congregation to block controversial activist VeryDarkMan on Facebook and unfollow him, calling him an “antichrist.”

In the viral live broadcast from Evidence of the Gospel Church, the cleric lamented that many people now stay at home instead of coming to church because of what VDM says in his videos.

How X users reacted!

“Go and block VeryDarkMan on Facebook, unfollow that antichrist” is being turned into a meme. One side says: “Calling someone an idiot on the altar, doesn’t it seem too far pastor?” The other side says VDM promotes immorality.

Why this hits different:

This is not the first pastor vs VDM clash — it comes after Pastor Ibiyeomie threatening bloggers, Chosen Pastor Muoka saying VDM will learn the hard way, and Pastor Chris Okafor’s damage control backfiring. But this Benin pastor openly linking church attendance drop to VDM is why Nigerians are saying 😭💔 — they feel he admitted that TikTok has more pull than pulpit.

As one viral comment put it: “Unfortunately, majority of his church members won’t obey him” and “majority of his church members are muting sermons to watch VDM inside church”
