The curry don burn last night 😂
After days of Nigerians chanting on X “Put Adeyemi, Put Adeyemi like say na curry” — begging Hansi Flick to play their Naija boy — Barcelona finally put him and still lost 4-2 to PSG at Parc des Princes on Tuesday night, October 20.
It was a six-goal thriller. Barcelona went up through Xavi Espart and Lamine Yamal, but PSG equalized and then punished them late with goals from Lucas Hernandez (72’), Vitinha and Fabian Ruiz.
Flick made a triple change on 60th minute — bringing in Gavi, Rodri and Karim Adeyemi for Raphinha — trying to kill the game when PSG were on the ropes with Marquinhos and Kvaratskhelia injured. But according to Everything Barca and LiveScore, Adeyemi “failed to convert two decent chances” after coming on, and had a shot off target in the 90+2 minute. He was rated 6.4.
Before the game, Nigerian Twitter was full of “Put Adeyemi” memes because he scored vs Galatasaray (4-1 win) last week. After the loss, the same timeline switched to “Flick why you put am late?” and “Defence na water.”
Yamal scored but still lost. Raphinha blasted four shots off target before being subbed. And Adeyemi, our Ibadan street football boy turned Barcelona star, could not save Barca.
Barca now have their first Champions League defeat of the season. PSG go top.
