In a move that has set Nigerian political Twitter on fire, the African Action Congress (AAC) has formally written to President Bola Tinubu, demanding to use the Presidential Villa for its own campaign.
In a letter dated October 21, 2026, and signed by its National Secretary, Oshiokhue Philip Ikpeminoghena, the AAC requested permission to inaugurate its Presidential Campaign Council for its 2027 presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja, on November 11, 2026.
But that’s not all.
The party also demanded that the Presidency provide food, drinks, and full logistical support for 5,000 participants coming from Nigeria and abroad.
According to the letter, the AAC said its request was based on the principles of multiparty democracy, political inclusiveness, and equal treatment, citing similar arrangements reportedly extended to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), which recently inaugurated its own Presidential Campaign Council for Tinubu’s re-election bid.
The AAC insisted that public institutions like the Presidential Villa must serve all Nigerians without partisan discrimination and challenged the Tinubu administration to demonstrate its commitment to fairness and equal access.

This comes just days after AAC sued Tinubu at the Federal High Court in Abuja over his failure to transmit power to VP Shettima during his European vacation, and after Sowore was arraigned by the DSS for calling Tinubu a “criminal” on social media.
Political observers say the letter is both strategic and satirical — a classic Sowore move to test the government’s claim of democracy. If APC can inaugurate its campaign council with state resources and presidential backing, why can’t AAC?
On X, the hashtags #AACOurParty and #Sowore2027 are already trending, with supporters asking: Will Tinubu approve it? Or will this prove that Aso Rock is APC’s private house?
The Presidency is yet to respond.
