If you have been on X today, you have probably seen the video. No long speech, no placard. Just a woman in Cross River State, standing in front of a large banner, and tearing off President Bola Tinubu’s face.
In the footage now circulating, she walks up to the banner displayed by the roadside and focuses straight on the President’s portrait, pulling at it until it comes off. No one stopped her. People were just watching, some recording. You could feel the anger without her even saying much — it was the kind of frustration that many Nigerians say they feel daily when they go to the market and come back with half a bag for double the price.
According to reports, she did it to express her frustration with the government. And that is why the video is blowing up. Not because she tore a banner — banners get torn every day in Nigeria — but because it feels like a symbol. For some, it is a woman who is tired of hardship and has decided to say it the only way she knows how. For others, it is disrespectful to the office of the President and could land her in trouble.

Whatever side you are on, one thing is clear: Nigerians are going through a lot, and emotions are boiling over. That banner in Cross River just happened to be where this woman let hers out. What do you think — is this a harmless protest or a line that should not be crossed?
